3. Mississippi Beach Picks - Biloxi, Gulfport

Two more popular beach spots and only one state over! Fun fact: Biloxi is one of the oldest settlements in all of Mississippi, being founded back in 1699. The city is well-known for its casinos, restaurants, and other tourist attractions which are all located just a short walk off the beach itself. If you're looking for something a little more laid-back, nearby Gulfport is perfect!

9. St Francisville, LA

If you prefer a quiet town with lots of historic sights, St. Francisville is the place to go. This small town is packed with historic historical sights, and the surrounding area is home to six plantation homes open to the public for guided tours. Cat Island National Wildlife Refuge is also nearby for those who are looking to see some nature, as is the Afton Villa garden.

10. Toledo Bend Reservoir, LA

Another popular "lake" spot, the Toledo Bend Resevor is located right on the TX and LA border. Between good fishing, golfing, 2 nearby state parks, and and historic sites, there are plenty of things to do for a weekend away. Fun fact: it is the largest man-made body of water in Louisiana, the largest in the South, and the fifth largest in the United States.
